How to use it
- 1First-year output should come from a resource study or your best estimate.
- 2Include maintenance, insurance, land rent and management in OPEX.
- 3The discount rate reflects the project's cost of capital.
How it calculates
- LCOE = (CAPEX + Σ OPEXₜ / (1 + r)ᵗ) / Σ Eₜ / (1 + r)ᵗ, t = 1…n
- Eₜ = E₁ × (1 − degradation)^(t−1)
Verifiable example
€1,000,000 of CAPEX, €20,000/year, 2,000 MWh, with no degradation or discounting over 25 years: €30.00/MWh.
Limitations
- Simplified model: no taxes, financing, replacements or residual value.
- It doesn't include grid connection costs or curtailment.
- It doesn't replace a technical study or supplier offers.
