Crop comparator
Compare up to four crops by margin per hectare, with and without subsidies, under the same adverse scenario for all, and by margin per m³ of water and per hour.
Your assumptions, not a recommendation
It compares margins with the yields, prices and costs you enter. It doesn't decide the rotation or take each crop's market into account.

Calculation version:agri-margin@1.0.0.
How to use it
- 1Add up to four crops with their yield, price, other income, subsidies and cost per hectare.
- 2Adjust the adverse scenario (by default −20% yield and −20% price) and compare margins, break-even and margin per m³ of water and per hour.
How it calculates
- Margin = yield × price + other income − cost (with subsidies, they're added).
- Adverse scenario = sales × (1 + yield drop) × (1 + price drop) + other income − cost + subsidies.
- € per m³ and € per hour = margin without subsidies / water or labour per ha.
Verifiable example
With the tool's three fictitious crops, B gives the highest margin with subsidies (€770/ha, against 157 and €554/ha), but with 20% less yield and price it drops to −€137/ha and A to −€120/ha, while C holds €221/ha: the most profitable in the base case isn't the most resilient.
Limitations
- It doesn't take into account rotations, timing, available machinery, water rights or each crop's market.
- The adverse scenario applies the same drops to all; in reality, each crop has its own risk.
